If you see the message, authentication failed, like the screenshot below, follow these steps to try resolving the issue:
- Make sure you are using your correct SOU username and password. Email aliases (AKA nicknames) or personal email addresses, even if you forward your SOU email, will not work. Please note that your SOU username will not include @sou.edu. For the purposes of logging in to SOU Shibboleth Login Services (which asks for a username and password), please ensure you are not using the full email address.
- If you are sure that your SOU username and password is correct, your password may be expired. SOU passwords expire every year and must be updated for security purposes. Try logging into https://account.sou.edu/. If your password is expired, it will notify you of this and prompt you to change it immediately. If this is your first time logging into account self-service, you will need to complete your security questions and then you will be allowed to change your password. You cannot use any of your old passwords, please select a new one. For more help changing your password, see this other knowledgebase article.
- If, after following these steps, you still cannot login into InsideSOU, Moodle, SOU Gmail, or account self-service, you will need to contact the IT Help Desk for assistance at 541-552-6900. Please note that we require proof of your identity to reset your password and we do not perform password changes over email.
