BREAKING NEWS! We've added this block to our standard course template so any courses created after 7/25/24 will automatically have this block included. It will appear on every page in your course and will be hidden from students by default. Woot woot!
The "Grade Me" block keeps track of ungraded activities and provides links for quick and easy access. The block is configured to notify you about ungraded assignment submissions, quizzes and lessons, and unrated forums, database items and glossary entries.
Good to Know
- Forums set for whole forum grading are not tracked by this block; forums set for ratings will be scanned for ungraded posts.
- Items that you have scored directly in the gradebook instead of within the activity link will show as ungraded in the Grade Me block. (Just ignore them!)
- Students see this block BUT all it reports to them is "Nothing to grade!". See instructions below to learn how to hide the block from students. (If you have enabled peer rating of forums, however, students would be reminded that there were unrated posts in the forums.)
- If it would be handy for you to have the block appear on every course page, follow the directions below, then see these instructions.
Add the Grade Me Block to Your Course
- Turn editing on and open the blocks area on the right side of your course.
- Click on the Add a block button.
- Select Grade Me from the list of blocks that is displayed.
- The new block will appear at the bottom of the original course blocks. Click on the move icon to shift the block toward the top of the blocks.
- The block will initially congratulate you for not having anything to grade, but ungraded activites will appear after a few minutes.
- Click on the name of the activity to go directly to it and access ungraded items.
Hide the Grade Me Block from Students
The Grade Me block is visible to students, displaying the message "Nothing to grade!". To hide it from them:
- Click on the Actions menu in the upper right corner of the block and choose Permissions.
- In the "View block" permissions field, locate the link for the Student role and click on the trash can to remove it from the permissions. Your change will be saved automatically.
