Add-ins are third-party extensions that add new features to Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Add-ins can be useful, but they can also be a vector for viruses and spyware, so the SOU Information Technology department regulates which add-ins are approved for use in SOU's computing environments.

Requesting Support for an Add-In
If you have an add-in you would like to use within a Microsoft Office application in SOU's computing environments, please email helpdesk@sou.edu with the following information:
- Name of the add-in
- Publisher of the add-in (company name)
- Purpose of the add-in
We will evaluate the add-in, and if it conforms to our security policy, we will safelist the publisher so that you and others can use the add-in.
